Woodland FC President Ross Harris is excited to announce that the club has completed the merger of the club to Michael David, CEO of Guardians Sports. While Guardians Sports will take ownership of Woodland, the staff of Woodland will remain intact, with Ross Harris retaining his role as President of the club, Chandler Givler remaining as head coach of the men's team, and the rest of the club staff will be completing the move as well.
"I want to start by informing our fans, sponsors, and players that this acquisiton is an incredible opportunity for the club that only expands our ability to improve the fastest growing club in Kansas City," club president Ross Harris said. "We are joining an established youth organization that has access to excellent indoor facilities to keep us in shape all year-round, as well as giving us the necessary incentives to keep our staff, players, and fans engaged in the future of soccer in Kansas City."
The club's theme song proves to be true once again. Bob Dylan's The Times They are a Changin' aren't just true for the club's acquisition by Guardians Sports, but is also true of the club's new home stadium where the Royals hosted their first match of the 2027 season in US Open Cup qualifying a short bit ago on October 4th at the new St. Joseph Stadium in downtown Shawnee.
Woodland is committed to maintaining their involvement in local community. Whether it's at Chamber of Commerce or Rotary Club events, volunteering at schools as we've done in the past at Trail Ridge Middle, running camps, or even being approved internship programs for local college students helping the next generation, we are even more committed to being an invaluable piece of the Shawnee, Lenexa, Merriam community.
The picture is clear, the future of Woodland FC, powered by Guardians Sports, has gone further up, and further in.
